In the Final Programme for the 2008 World Water Week in Stockholm, August 17-23, you can read about the over 100 plenary sessions, workshops, seminars and side events that will take place under the overarching theme “Progress and Prospects on Water: For a Clean and Healthy World with Special Focus on Sanitation.” In addition to the diverse aspects of sanitation, issues concerning water and climate, water resources management, environment and ecosystems, and Transboundary Water will be prominent discussion points through the week.

Water governance facility

The UNDP Water Governance Facility (WGF) at the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) is a unique initiative that was launched by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Swedish Agency for International Development Cooperation (Sida). It supports developing countries in their efforts to strengthen water governance and reduce poverty through policy support and advisory services in multiple thematic areas, including: integrated water resources management, transboundary water and water supply, sanitation, climate variability, South-South collaboration, experience and best practices exchange, gender, and capacity building.

International Water History Association Conference for 2009

The next biannual conference of IWHA will be in Copenhagen, Denmark, August 4-8, 2009. The theme of the conference is “Local Livelihoods And Global Challenges: Understanding Human Interaction With The Environment”.  The deadline for paper and session proposals is March 30 2008.
